What is the drive like from Vancouver to Whistler?
Highway 99 (also known as the Sea to Sky Highway) is a scenic route that winds along Howe Sound to Squamish before it starts the climb through the mountains to Whistler, with views of the majestic Tantalus Range, Cheakamus Canyon and Black Tusk on the way.
As a mountain highway it is subject to rapid changes in weather conditions including heavy snowfall in winter as well as rain, wildlife and other hazards. Please ensure you are aware of road rules for British Columbia, check current road conditions before leaving and are prepared for winter driving conditions if applicable.
How long does it take to drive from Whistler to Vancouver?
Whistler is 120 km (75 mi) from Vancouver, which takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes in clear conditions. Budget longer if you would like to stop and sightsee along the way and be aware that rain, snow or traffic conditions may affect the drive time and plan accordingly.
If coming from Vancouver International Airport, the distance is 137 km (85 mi) which takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
